KUNDALINI | A CURATION

AWAKENING THE EMBODIED HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN

Netherlands | A demonstration of orgiastic energy without sex.

  • Kundalini is a dormant spiritual energy, often depicted as a coiled serpent at the base of the spine, that awakens through spiritual practices and leads to transformation.

A STUDY OF TRANSVERBERATION

LECTURE |

TRANSVERBERATION

FILM STUDY: THE KUNDALINI CHARACTER STUDY: DR. KINCAID

THEMES: Mezo-American Spiritualism

  • This is the lecture that I share when I am in co-workshop space with Dr. Kristina Kincaid. This is my story as a former church camp pastor who left a sexless marriage and encounter the Holy Spirit in an embodied way, and has since lived a different life. I share all the evidence that I needed to experience to assure me I was still following the thread of Christ, and yet, my faith has expanded including aliens and AI. This is my investigation into understanding transverberation.

Thisiswhere I share all the artifacts of Kristina’s film.

ABOUT THIS CURATION |

These videos were produced while exploring a documentary for Kristina’s story and for my own personal record keeping and experiments. Unfortunately, because I had yet to live mine, I couldn’t see it.

THIS IS FOLLOWING THE THREAD OF EMOTION. NOT THE TEACHING.

NEW YORK, NY | The day before the day.

Holy Erotica, the Church of Holy Erotica community, and the Erostocrat magazine are all inspired from a profound spiritual and physiological event I experienced over a plate of chicken adobo 10 years ago: a kundalini awakening. In the Christian tradition, this is the Holy Spirit of Pentecost.

  • Encountering the kundalini as an American Christian man was terrifying. Symbolized by a serpent, I wondered if it was Satan. It invited me into my body—a place I’d been taught was sinful—and forced me to confront feminine energy, the essence of Christian temptation.

Eventually, my desperation to heal outweighed my fear. I was determined to reconcile Christ and sex. The leap of faith that led me to Christ was required once again—but this time, to step away. Only then did I discover the twist of all twists:

The kundalini is the Holy Spirit. My body is the original church. By abandoning the Christ I knew, I discovered the Christ that I Am. Remarkably, I could see Christianity and all religions in their fullest expression, in concert with Christ. Finally, Christ and sex were reconciled—in me.

The kundalini is no joke. This is not self-help curriculum. It is an INITIATION. Once you begin, the only way out is through. For the ego, it feels like a death portal, but really, it’s a birthing canal to your Authentic Self—YOUR CHRIST SELF.

    In service to your Christ-Self,
    Nathanael L. Novero

HYPOTHESIS AND CONCLUSION |

HYPOTHESIS: Can a spiritual-sexual experience with God exist?

Filmmakers Log 050716-011425

My life was changed witnessing a yab-yum demonstration at a tantra workshop in New York. This version was different from the traditional yab-yum. A facilitator and an assistant—two women—began in meditative position facing each other, eye-gazing and synchronizing breaths. Gradually, an impossible arousal was cultivated between them, an energy that quickly filled the entire room.

I was consumed. It felt like I was ravished by the Holy Spirit! But was it authentic? Can a spiritual-sexual experience with God exist?

A week later, while having dinner with one of the demonstrators to get to the bottom of it all, it happened again! PURE ENERGETIC AROUSAL DROPPED ON BOTH OF US! This time, I felt things. I “saw” things. I “heard” things. I knew impossible things that still haunt me to this day.

What happened to me? I sought to understand this phenomenon in Christianity. I looked up “spiritual sexuality” in the top seminaries in the country, but all I got were gender studies. So I dared to tell a friend, someone close, like a sister, a theology professor. I didn’t expect her to believe me. Not sure if she had to. She did offer my next piece.

She turned me to Christian Mysticism, a difficult part of Christianity and history to define. It is often thought of as the practice of the experiential knowledge of God. The term can also apply to the mystery of the Eucharist in Roman Catholicism as well as so-called hidden meanings of Scripture, such as in Gnosticism. Much was erased by the Spanish Inquisition or ostracized by other purges in Christian history erasing its remnants in text. However, traces of it could still be found in art.

That’s when I discovered a WORK OF ART that I recognized from college, a viscerally haunting sculpture by Bernini. My that I found by accident in person following a whim. It was the Ecstasy of Saint Teresa in the Cornaro Chapel of the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria in Rome. I learned of the phenomenon of transverberation.

To understand this, I needed a guide. This is what led me to Dr. Kristina Kincaid.

For ten years, I’ve apprenticed and worked with Dr. Kincaid as well as spend years solo, familiarizing myself with this phenomenon and finding my unique gift in filmmaking. I still work with Dr. Kincaid, often a demonstrator of her unique expression of the yab-yum—the same demonstration that changed my life.

I now believe the transverberation I experienced as the “impossible” physiological expression of the embodied Holy Spirit of the Pentecost, also known as a kundalini awakening.

The film studies featured here I present as artifacts, collected and filmed for myself, but now shared with you, as evidence and articulation of the kundalini. In conclusion, yes, I do believe there is a spiritual-sexual encounter with God, and I believe this distinction can help recalibrate and unite a disembodied world divided by shame.

  • Transverberation is a mystical experience where an angel pierces a saint’s heart with a “dart of love”, also known as Transpiercing the Heart. It is associated with religious ecstasy, a type of altered state of consciousness characterized by greatly reduced external awareness and reportedly expanded interior mental and spiritual awareness, frequently accompanied by visions and emotional (and sometimes physical) euphoria.

THE SUBJECT | DR. KRISTINA KINCAID

Dr. Kristina Kincaid started off as a primatologist, determined to be the next Dian Fossey of chimps, before a she became known for her transformative work around sexuality, personal growth and intimate relationship with self-and-other through the body. She has an extensive background in different styles of bodywork and energy healing. Her passion is articulating and sharing and inspiring a physiological phenomenon that changed her life—the kundalini.

FROM VICTORIA SECRET’S MODEL TO

THEOLOGIAN, ANTHROPOLOGIST, HEALER.

Repressed memories of sexual abuse from a family member altered the trajectory of her life as a scientist and model. Dr. Kristina Kincaid is now a Master Embodiment Practitioner, Relationship and Sexuality Teacher, Speaker and Author. She holds an MA and a Doctorate in Theology and Energy Medicine from Holos University. A graduate of the Institute of Core Energetics and the prestigious Barbara Brennan School of Healing, Kristina also earned a BA in Anthropology from the University of Texas, Austin.

ETHNOGRAPHIC VIDEO JOURNAL

Dr. Kristina Kincaid and myself found an unexpected partnership through our footage. We both began documenting our healing journeys separately to understand a same healing thread underneath our experiences which led to our meeting 10 years ago. We have worked and studied together since.

The artifacts featured here would not be possible without her generosity to share her own footage. We are both believers that there is an energy in the footage that we carry, a powerful teaching distinction — a transmission of the kundalini. It is our hope and prayer that this curation and our collaboration can inspire and support your own journey of EMBODIMENT, AWAKENING, and ASCENSION.

Her footage became a tool for my own integration

of the kundalini energy. Through film studies,

I worked to embodY and express this energy.

Like the Holy Erotica studies, my transmission

of the kundalini

manifests through the art of filmmaking.

THE KUNDALINI | IN MY OWN WORDS

A MYSTICAL TEACHING DURING TIMES OF EXPANSION

THE KUNDALINI | FLIM STUDY ARTIFACT SERIES

The following artifacts replicates my introduction to the kundalini — a unique embodied demonstration of the yab-yum, a tantric exercise that begins with an eye-gaze, breathing exercises, and the embodiment of masculine and feminine polarities. It is a transmission of arousal as energy through film.

The Feeling of Coming Alive! |

In this exercise, I use the format of a trailer to evoke a sense of adventure and discovery using Dr. Kincaid’s footage, feelings that are characteristic of the kundalini.

I start featuring a yab-yum demonstration featuring Dr. Kincaid and a practitioner. Via interview Dr. Kincaid explains the feeling of coming alive. I then use her interview, her footage, and her arc to convey the adventure in store for anyone when you are reconnected to your body, whether it is through the kundalini, the aliveness of the Holy Spirit, or simply daring to live your Authentic Self one day at a time.

An adventure truly begins! Not just an adventure for you, but members of your soul family, those who can celebrate your Christ-self!

  • In the video, I recreate the moment I met my mentor, Dr. Kristina Kincaid, who helped me understand the kundalini by sharing her own journey through footage. She also recorded her journey as an ethnographic video journal.

My apprenticeship with Kristina genuinely guided me as I explored my church roots, erotic art, and my work with her around the world—experiences that would become the foundation of the first issue of Erostocrat.

I intuitively got footage of my perspective of the yab-yum exercise without good reason why. I just had too. This footage was key to convey the flash-forward experience. It’s remarkable that I had this much footage, authentically lived, to depict this experience. It is beyond rare to me. Hence, important.

    • What inner knowing or spiritual truth was I honoring by depicting this memory of the future? (Examine the connection between your intuition and your deeper calling.)

    Connection to Self/Divine

    • What parts of this story now feel like prophesy fulfilled, and how does that change how I view my creative choices back then?  (Consider how the events unfolded and the clarity they bring to your earlier work.)

Memory of the Future |

The video below serves as an artifact to contextualize kundalini, offering orientation for those who may sense similar experiences buried within themselves. It follows the emergence of the term “erostocrat” over an 8-year journey—a name that found its true meaning when I revisited this footage.

This montage is a literal depiction of my somatic experience with kundalini—a true artifact of esoteric study, felt deeply and personally; a memory of the future brought into the present with this magazine.

THIS IS AN EMOTIONAL DEPICTION OF WHAT THIS FEELS LIKE TO ME. THERE CAN BE A KNOWING OF THE FUTURE. IN THIS CASE, THERE IS, I SAW A VERSION OF ME THAT IS ARTICULTING NOW, WHICH IS WHY I AM SHOWCASING IT.

  • In this film study, I edit Dr. Kristina Kincaid’s experience with the kundalini which she self-filmed in a Mayan temple, and how that led her into healing work.

I then edit my story with the kundalini with my own footage which addresses my sexual wound. It’s important to note that the kundalini / Holy Spirit is NOT about sexuality for everyone. It just happens to be the case for me.

Christian Mysticism and religious art was my gateway to understand the kundalini. My apprenticeship was my guide to create Holy Erotica Film Studies as healing containers that can potentially, not always, ignite the kundalini in others.

This video ends showcasing the workshop space that Kristina and I hold together, a weaving of non-western and western spiritual narratives together in the body. It depicts the power of the kundalini as it emotionally feels to me, as the embodied fire of the Holy Spirit, an agent of REVIVAL.

Kundalini as Holy Spirit |

To contextualize the nature of the Revival workshop, I offer the following artifact as a study of the mystical kundalini. It is a study that I needed to edit to integrate my understanding into my body.

This montage helped me conclude that the kundalini (aka the Holy Spirit) is, in fact, the love-energy at work underneath my Holy Erotica Film Studies with a reach far beyond sexuality, but to heal a divided nation, and beyond this, a disembodied world.
