MY STORY

“MAKE HOLY EROTICA”

I was in a Filipino restraurant in Queens having chicken adobo when I had a profound encounter with God. It felt like I was being ravished by the Holy Spirit! During this phenomenon, I felt words spoken in my body, clear and distinct. “Make HOLY EROTICA.”

What did this mean? What did this look like? What stirred in me seemed like I was facing my greatest fear, my religious-sexual wound. I needed a camera. When I shoot, I’m not afraid.

I followed this thread for the next 7-8 years with my camera, a journey that landed me in the Philippines where I reconnected to my cultural roots. How did I get here?

By reversing my journey, I discovered something profound: if confronting my religious-sexual wound reconnected me to my culture, perhaps it was a religious-sexual wound that severed me from it. This is how I discovered OUR NATION’S SEXUAL TRAUMA, a root wound that began on Plymouth Rock.

Fortunately, my journey of producing 3 erotic short films also left me with a DHARMA, my unique offering to heal this wound — what I call the GOSPEL OF THE BODY and the EROTIC CHRIST — teaching distinctions that expanded my Christian faith beyond my wound, to LOVE across the lines that divide our nation.

WHAT IS A FILM STUDY |

As a Christian and filmmaker, a film study is my hack to bypass my indoctrinated aversion to feminine sexuality, to get close enough it and RE-LEARN.

By deconstructing the filmmaking process, I was deconstructing my trauma. With a trade for editing and a heart for worship, I was artistically accomplishing what I had yet to feel in my body — I WAS RE-ASSOCIATING EROTICISM WITH GOD. This experiment unknowingly became a means for me to EMBODY.

This profound therapeutic process as a man, beholding behind the camera with reverence and respect, re-birthed my masculinity. It unlocked a gift, a message, and my AUTHENTIC SELF, a fearless version of me I could have never imagined.

THE FILM

STEP 3: EDIT. Follow.my authentic arousal, not by the conventions of my profession or what I think the story should be.

THE STUDY

STEP 1: COMPARE the finished film to my original filmming experience documented in the raw footage..

STEP 2: OBSERVE audience reaction, a forecast of the world’s reaction to my Authentic Self.

STEP 3: ASSIMILATE. Compare myself to when I started the film studies. Present my conclusions.
