BREATH

LET’S use the 4-7-8 technique TOGETHER:

  • EMPTYING the lungs of air

  • BREATHING IN QUIENTLY through the nose for 4 SECONDS

  • HOLDING THE BREATH for a count of 7 SECONDS

  • EXHALING FORCEFULLY through the mouth, pursing the lips, and making a “WHOSH” sound for 8 SECONDS

  • REPEATING THE CYCLE up to 4 TIMES

  • Since you will be doing this breathing exercise FOUR TIMES, why not section-off your breathing-prayer to cover the four cardinal directions: NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, and WEST. This practice is common in Native American culture.
