LOST IN DEVELOPMENT HELL

The curations here trace the life of my Canon 6D—a secondhand camera that captured my first Holy Erotica film and took its final shots as I finished the last. Over an 8-year span, I was pulled between documentaries and films, focused on others. My narrative was lost in the process. Rarely appearing in my own footage, I struggled to find my arc. I was literally trapped in development hell—until the camera died.
As an editor with over 20 years of experience, I’ve always seen value in raw, unpolished artifacts. I tried revisiting my work as artifacts, and this changed everything. I saw myself—Nathanael, unproduced, unedited. Finally, I saw the story I was living, and a bigger picture. What resulted is an EPISTEMOLOGY OF SOMATIC ARTOGRAPHY, a method to deconstruct the filmmaking medium as metaphor to deconstruct conditioning. This opened a gnosis for me, what I believe is our collective lost memory of the EROTIC CHRIST.
CIFGUY | Study of Integration
This video marks a return — to myself, and to a story I needed to tell my way. After moving through purity culture, apprenticeship, and Holy Erotica — along with rejection and loss — I revived my old YouTube persona, CIFGUY, to share who I am now.
I first became CIFGUY in YouTube’s early days, gaining a following before “influencer” was even a word. I disappeared without explanation. Fifteen years later, I returned with a personal update, curious how the story would sound through my own voice.
Posted just before the 2024 eclipse in Arkansas — an event I once dreamed of as a child — the moment felt cosmic, karmic, like a portal. But what I felt didn’t come from the eclipse. It came from within.
EROSTOCRAT | Study of Self
This video artifact is a study of Self. After years of dividing my footage into separate documentaries and creative contracts—none truly centered on me—those agreements ended, and all the footage returned to me.
For the first time, I felt free to look at it as a whole and find myself in it. I created a trailer-like intro to my own story, starting at the beginning—with my filmmaking.
It wasn’t easy. I was overwhelmed by years of self-filmed interviews and haunted by doubt. A voice in me kept saying, “No one wants to see you. Edit for them.”
But I kept going. Using my tools, my craft, and discipline, I pieced it together. It was painful, but necessary. In the process, a deeper narrative began to emerge—one that felt ancient, and deeply mine.
Gospel of the Body: Revelations | Somatic Artography
In Gospel of the Body: Revelations, I describe my process. Filmmaking becomes a way to deconstruct my conditioning and recover forgotten memory—what I call an epistemology of somatic artography. Through this practice, I not only see my own life differently but also world history, including the parables and stories of Scripture. It is both metaphor and method, reflecting how I now live: embodied. It articulates two perspectives of the world, that of communion and that of conquest, and Christ, as the trans figurative axis between paradoxical opposites.
This is also a return to fun, light-hearted filmmaker of my early Youtube days.
